Why Choose Us

Why Orthopedic Treatment in India for Knee Arthritis?

Patients from the UK, Germany, USA, Canada, and Australia suffering from knee arthritis and other serious orthopedic conditions are increasingly choosing India for advanced treatment. One of the main reasons is affordability. In India, patients can receive world-class care such as Mako robotic knee replacement surgery at a significantly lower cost. Compared to many Western countries, the cost of treatment in India can be one-fourth or sometimes even one-tenth, making it an attractive option for patients seeking effective treatment for severe knee arthritis.

Other factors that draw international patients include personalized care, highly skilled surgeons, advanced technology, clean hospitals, and transparent pricing without hidden charges. Patients looking for reliable knee arthritis treatment often prefer hospitals that offer modern surgical techniques like Mako robotic knee replacement surgery, which provides greater precision, improved implant alignment, and faster recovery. Many patients searching for the best orthopedic doctor in Bangalore choose experienced specialists such as Dr Deepak Inamdar, a trusted orthopedic doctor, known for treating complex knee arthritis cases using advanced robotic-assisted procedures.

For many medical travelers, India also offers the opportunity to combine treatment with a comfortable recovery experience. Patients often appreciate the chance to undergo advanced orthopedic care while recovering in a supportive environment. This makes India a preferred destination for patients seeking long-term relief from knee arthritis through Mako robotic knee replacement surgery.

International Patient From Yemen After Both Knee Replacement Surgeries

India has also become a major healthcare destination for patients from Africa, Bangladesh, Yemen, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East who are looking for affordable and effective knee arthritis treatment. Many patients review detailed patient information and consult leading specialists before planning their treatment journey.

Common orthopedic procedures sought by international patients include Mako robotic knee replacement surgery, total knee replacement, hip replacement, and arthroscopic surgery for shoulder and knee injuries. Many individuals aged 60 and above suffer from advanced knee arthritis , which significantly limits mobility and daily activities. In countries like the US, millions of people in the 60–70 age group lack adequate insurance coverage for joint replacement procedures. Similarly, long waiting lists of up to a year in the UK for elective orthopedic surgeries often delay treatment.

Because of these challenges, many patients travel to India to receive timely care from the best orthopedic doctor Bangalore, including specialists like Dr Deepak Inamdar , who offers advanced treatment options for knee arthritis using Mako robotic knee replacement surgery to restore mobility and improve quality of life.

Cost Comparison

Example : In the US, a Total hip replacement surgery would cost around $35,000 whereas in India the same surgical operation can be done for a sum of only Less than $6,000 Similarly, the cost of a Total Knee Replacement in the UK comes around 9,500 pounds , whereas the same in India costs is less than 3,000 pounds.

Knee Replacement Guide

Why Orthopedic Treatment in India for Knee Arthritis?

Once home, you should continue to stay active. The key is to remember not to overdo it! While you can expect some good days and some bad days, you should notice a gradual improvement and a gradual increase in your endurance over the next 6 to 12 months. The following guidelines are generally applicable, but the final answer on each of these issues should come from your doctor.

Physical Therapy Exercises

Continue to do the exercises prescribed for at least two months after surgery. Riding a stationary bicycle can help maintain muscle tone and keep your knee flexible. Try to achieve the maximum degree of bending and extension possible.

Driving

If your left knee was replaced and you have an automatic transmission, you may be able to begin driving in a week or so, provided you are no longer taking narcotic pain medication. If your right knee was replaced, avoid driving for 6 to 8 weeks. Remember that your reflexes may not be as sharp as before your surgery.

Airport Metal Detectors

The sensitivity of metal detectors varies and it is unlikely that your prosthesis will cause an alarm. You should carry a medic alert card indicating you have an artificial joint, just in case.

Sexual Activity

- can be safely resumed approximately 4 to 6 weeks after surgery.

Sleeping Positions

You can safely sleep on your back, on either side, or on your stomach.

Return to Work

Depending on the type of activities you perform, it may be 6 to 8 weeks before you return to work.

Other Activities

Walk as much as you like, but remember that walking is no substitute for the exercises your doctor and physical therapist will prescribe. Swimming is also recommended; you can begin as soon as the sutures have been removed and the wound is healed, approximately 6 to 8 weeks after surgery. Acceptable activities include dancing, golfing (with spikeless shoes and a cart), and bicycling (on level surfaces).

WHAT ACTIVITES TO AVOID

Avoid activities that put stress on the knee. These activities include: tennis, badminton, contact sports (such as football, baseball), squash or racquetball, jumping, squats, skiing, or jogging. Do not do any heavy lifting (more than 40 lb) or weight lifting.
